KEVIN KAISER
Artistic Director Evergreen City Ballet
2012 Summer Faculty
Mr. Kaiser started dancing when he was four years old. He is one of five brothers that made up a professional tap dancing group. The “Kaiser Brothers” grew up outside of Seattle and toured the United States throughout their childhood. Mr. Kaiser began his professional ballet career at age sixteen with Pennsylvania Ballet under the Direction of Barbara Weisberger and Benjamin Harkarvey. Mr. Kaiser returned to Seattle and joined Pacific Northwest Ballet under the direction of Kent Stowell and Francia Russell. For fifteen years he performed a wide range of repertoire. Mr. Kaiser danced roles from world-renowned choreographers including George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Paul Taylor, Kent Stowell, Marius Petipa, Anthony Tudor, Lar Lubovich and Glen Tetley. Mr. Kaiser danced a very diverse repertoire from Paul Taylor's “Company B” to George Balanchine's “A Midsummer Night's Dream” Divertissement Pas De Deux, George Balanchine's “Serenade” to almost every male role in Kent Stowell's “Nutcracker” from the Prince to Drosselmeyer. In addition Mr. Kaiser enjoyed dancing Anthony Tudors “Jardin Aux Lilac”, Mercucio in Kent Stowell's “Romeo and Juliet” and Glen Tetley's “Voluntaries.”
After retiring, Mr. Kaiser was appointed Ballet Master with Oregon Ballet Theatre and later promoted to Associate Artistic Director under the direction of James Canfield. While at the Oregon Ballet Theatre Mr. Kaiser staged works choreographed by James Canfield, George Balanchine, Donald Byrd, Robert Joffrey, David Parsons and Val Caniparoli.
Mr. Kaiser has an extensive teaching background throughout the United States which include Pacific Northwest Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet, Oregon Ballet Theatre, Dance Educators of America, Tulsa Ballet and many more.
Mr. Kaiser's ties to the ballet world can be felt throughout the United States. His older brother Roy Kaiser, is Artistic Director of Pennsylvania Ballet in Philadelphia. His younger brother Russell danced with New York City Ballet and is now Assistant Artistic Director for Boston Ballet. Ken and Dan Kaiser are both Artistic Directors of ballet schools and regional companies.
Mr. Kaiser was appointed Artistic Director of Evergreen City Ballet in January 2008. He has choreographes two original works along with bringing in new choreographers to work with the Company and Performance Division. He is excited to bring his years of dedication and experience in the field of dance to this rapidly growing area of the Northwest. |

Louise Nadeau is from Long Island, New York. She trained at the Cantarella School of Dance in Pittsfield, MA, the Alexandra School of Ballet in St. Louis and the School of American Ballet. She danced with Basel Ballet and Kansas City Ballet before joining Pacific Northwest Ballet as a Soloist in 1990. She was promoted to Principal in 1992 and retired from the stage with a celebratory gala in June of 2009.
Her versatility and powerful interpretive skills have made her a favorite in full length classical ballets as well as contemporary works. She has performed nationally and internationally with Pacific NW Ballet and as a guest artist.

Ms. Nadeau performed the Divertissement pas de deux in the BBC’s 1999 film version of PNB’s production of Balanchine’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, filmed at Sadler’s Wells Theatre, London. In 2000, she participated in The George Balanchine Foundation’s Interpreters Archive series, dancing excerpts from Balanchine’s Agon, coached by Melissa Hayden. In 2005, she performed with Peter Boal and Company. |

MARIA CHAPMAN
Principal Dancer with Pacific Northwest Ballet

Maria Chapman is from St. Simons Island, Georgia. She was a student of Magdalena Maury and studied under Patricia Bromley at Terpsichore Co., Ltd. in Atlanta. She continued her training on full scholarship at the School of American Ballet and attended summer courses at Boston Ballet, Houston Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet School, and the School of American Ballet. She joined Pacific Northwest Ballet as an apprentice in 1995 and was promoted to corps de ballet in 1996, soloist in 2005, and principal in 2009.
Ms. Chapman danced in the BBC's 1999 film version of PNB's production of George Balanchine's A Midsummer Night's Dream, filmed at Sadler's Wells Theatre, London. She is also featured in the 1999 danceWORKS fitness video and began appearing in Bloch dancewear advertising in 2002.
In addition to her performing career, Ms. Chapman is a founding member (1998 to present) of Second Stage for Dancers, PNB's career transition program. She is currently chairperson of the Second Stage Dancer Committee.

CARLA KöRBES
Principal Dancer with Pacific Northwest Ballet

Carla Körbes was born in Porto Alegre, Brazil, and began her ballet training at age five with local teachers. At age eleven, she began studying at Ballet Vera Bublitz. In 1996, Peter Boal danced with her as a guest artist of the school and encouraged her to come to New York to study at the School of American Ballet. For academic year 1997–1998, her tuition was paid by Alexandra Danilova so she could continue studying at the School of American Ballet. In 1999, she was the Mae. L. Wien Award recipient and was made an apprentice with New York City Ballet. She joined the company as a member of the corps de ballet in 2000 and was the Janice Levin Dancer Honoree for 2001–2002. She was promoted to soloist in 2005 and later that year joined Pacific Northwest Ballet as a soloist. Ms. Körbes was promoted to principal dancer in 2006.
In 2002, Ms. Körbes performed Richard Tanner's Ancient Airs and Dances for the nationally televised PBS Live from Lincoln Center broadcast, "New York City Ballet's Diamond Project: Ten Years of New Choreography."
In addition to her performances with New York City Ballet and Pacific Northwest Ballet, Ms. Körbes has performed with Peter Boal and Company. In 2007, she performed in the worldwide company debut performance of Morphoses/The Wheeldon Company. She has also performed as a guest artist on the Vail International Dance Festival’s “International Evenings of Dance” galas and at the “Dance Open” Gala in St. Petersburg, Russia in April 2010. |

| Jeffrey Stanton trained at San Francisco Ballet School and the School of American Ballet. In addition to classical ballet, he also studied ballroom, jazz, and tap dancing. He joined San Francisco Ballet in 1989 and left to join Pacific Northwest Ballet as a member of the corps de ballet in 1994. He was promoted to soloist in 1995 and was made a principal in 1996. He is originally from Santa Cruz, California. |

| DRESS CODE: |
For audition,
ladies should wear black or white leotard, pink tights,
pink ballet shoes, and pointe shoes (for those who are en pointe).
Men should wear white leotard or T-shirt, black tights,
white shoes and socks, and dance belt.
For
summer classes, ladies may wear any color leotard,
pink tights, pink ballet shoes and pointe shoes (upper
division). Skirts, pants, shorts, etc. are not allowed.
Men may wear any color leotard or T-shirt, black tights,
white or black shoes and socks, and dance belt. Jazz shoes
for jazz class are optional.
