Weekly Bulletin - February 28

Hello ECB Families!

I hope you had a restorative and enjoyable break.

Upcoming Workshop: FLOORWORK w/ Charmaine & Babatunji

We are incredibly excited to welcome ECB Alum Charmaine Butcher back to ECB for an exciting afternoon of movement on Saturday, March 14!

Charmaine began their training at ECB under the direction of our Founding Artistic Director Wade Walthall, and continued their training with Alonzo King LINES Ballet's Training Program in San Francisco. Charmaine was a beloved instructor at ECB for many years and also served as our Rehearsal & Programs Coordinator before Ms. Denali.

Charmaine will kick off the day by leading our Open Upper Ballet V-PD Technique class from 12:00-2:00pm, teaching contemporary ballet.

After class, Charmaine and their partner, Babatunji, will present a FREE in-studio performance for our community that will lead into an afternoon of floorwork workshops.

These workshops provide an approachable method to integrate breaking based techniques into contemporary practice. Participants will learn floor work built from the movement principles of Breaking. Complex movements will be scaled down in order to teach all experience levels how to safely progress into larger and more daring movements in and out of the floor. Come ready to sweat, explore, and redefine what floorwork can be!

The Second Evergreen Dance Festival

The second annual Evergreen Dance Festival is just around the corner on March 27-28!

The weekend will feature a series of masterclasses held at ECB on March 27 & 28, and will culminate in a one-night-only performance at the Renton IKEA Performing Arts Center at 7:00pm on Saturday, March 28. Dance organizations from across the Puget Sound area have been invited to share both the studio and stage with ECB, and we are also thrilled to welcome ARC Dance as our special guests. This partnership offers students the unique opportunity for students to perform alongside industry professionals.

ECB will present two works during this year’s festival. The Performance Division will perform Winter, choreographed by Jennifer Porter for Elevate, and we will also share a short excerpt from We Are Infinite with dancers from the upper levels.

The masterclass schedule will be shared in the coming weeks.
